Rug construction: What are the layers of a tufted rug?
1. The base of every tufted piece, no matter if rug, wall hanging or fabric, is the primary tufting cloth
2. Through that cloth the yarn is webbed with the tufting gun
3. When the piece is tufted, the backside of the piece gets glued
4a. If your piece is a rug or a fabric a final backing is added (as shown in the picture
4b. If your piece is a wall hanging, the piece is fixed on a wooden plate.
